Terms & Service

This information is provided in order to help you better understand H.I. Pool Service, LLC (HIPS) Terms and Conditions

Basic Full Service includes maintaining proper water chemistry; brushing, netting and vacuuming as needed; emptying the skimmer and pump baskets; checking the pool cleaner, if applicable, for proper operation and maintenance; and checking filter pressure. (Please note: brushing does not remove calcium build-up on tile and spillways and we are not responsible for its removal.) Conditioner/Algaecide/Clarifiers - Conditioner acts as a sunscreen for chlorine. Without it, chlorine exposed to the sun would burn up within a couple of hours, leaving no sanitizer in the water. Algaecide helps keep algae growth to a minimum. It is a non-copper based (non-staining) algae preventer put in every week starting in May through September. Clarifier is also added when needed to help to filter out smaller debris. These additives are not optional and are needed to maintain good water quality. The annual cost breaks down to average $12.50/month**.Sand Filter Cleans - Whenever the filter pressure is 8-10 pounds higher than the clean pressure, a filter clean is needed. Most sand filters will need to be cleaned every 4-6 weeks. A simple backwash process will be performed as part of your routine cleaning.

Additional Costs:

If you have a Cartridge Filter:

•Cartridge Filter Cleans - Whenever the filter pressure is 10 pounds higher than the clean pressure, a filter clean is needed. Under normal conditions, this occurs between 2 to 4 times a year. A filter clean involves the disassembly of the filter, a complete rinse of the cartridge, inspection of all the parts and relubricating the “o-rings”. This costs $70.00** ($80.00** if not able to clean on premises due to things such as artificial lawns, preference, etc.)Repairs - Small repairs or replacement parts required to keep your equipment functioning properly that amount to under $75.00 will be completed automatically and itemised on your invoice. This would include replacing things like broken pump baskets and filter grids or worn-out pool cleaner parts. Larger repairs will be made only after your approval.

If you have a Salt Chlorine Generator:

•Salt - Heavy rains, splash out and/or accidentally overfilling the pool dilutes the salt level. There is a $17.00** charge for every bag of salt added to your pool.

If you have a pool that uses chlorine tablets:

•Chlorine Tablets - You are required to maintain a supply of 3” tablets that will be kept on your premises (likely in the pool equipment area). This cost will directly relate to how you use your pool. (For example: if you have a high volume of swimmers or a pet that loves to use your pool, your bucket of tablets will need to be replaced much sooner than with regular use.) This cost fluctuates around $250.00** for a 50 lb. bucket. You will be charged for a 50 lb. bucket of tablets as needed to replenish this supply. (In most cases, this is most cost effective). HIPS can supply chlorine tablets, as needed, for an additional $35.00/month.•Please let us know if you prefer to provide your own tablets. HIPS will keep track of when this supply is running low and will notify you when a new bucket needs to be purchased.Extra Chemicals - Weekly chemical balancing includes up to one lb. of granular chlorine (or one gallon of liquid chlorine) as well as muriatic acid or sodium bicarbonate as needed to balance the pH. As mentioned above, how a pool is used directly affects this balance. Additionally, heavy rain, splash out, overfilling and/or leaks could affect your pool’s chemistry and increase chemical usage. Chemical usage in high excess or frequently in excess of what is considered ‘normal’ will see additional chemical charges reflected on the monthly invoice. Please feel free to ask for details if you receive this charge.

Service Interruptions:

Foul Weather – In heavy rain & in danger of lightning, all pools are treated as Chemical-Only service. Your service day will not be switched or made up. In heavy winds, please help out by emptying the pump and skimmer baskets daily and understand that your pool will not be perfect until the winds have stopped.Spring & Summer Holidays - Service may be done the business day before or after the holiday.Fall & Winter Holidays - Service may be skipped that week & will continue as normal the following week.Sickness & Vacation – Your monthly service charge is based on a 4 week month (4 x 12 = 48) 48 weeks a year. This leaves 4 weeks a year that service can be skipped and yet still collect the normal fee. These weeks are reserved for vacation or sickness.

Billing & Payments:

Billing invoices are sent out between the 1st and 5th of the month for the previous month’s service that you already received and were satisfied with. All payments are due upon receipt. Payment not received within 10 days of receipt is considered past due. If not paid by the 15th of the following month you will be subject to suspended service. Please pay on time as we also have bills due.

Customer Responsibilities:

1. Maintain water level. The water level needs to be maintained about halfway up the skimmer opening, preferably by an automatic pool filler. H.I. Pool Service, LLC is not liable for equipment damage due to low water level or overfilling.

2. Remove solar covers 24 hours before each service to ensure proper chemical reading and balance. 3.When not in use, keep pool free of floatation devices, toys, water furniture, etc. to allow equipment to properly filter and circulate water. This will also help us keep our service prices from increasing.

4. Keep pathways to the pool and equipment clear of debris and animal waste and easy to access.

5.Make payments within 10 days from receipt of invoice.

6.Most importantly: Enjoy your pool!

Thank you for your business,
